Seismic resisting behaviors are studied experimentally and analytically on composite block masonry walls that consist of block masonry wall confined by surrounding reinforced concrete beam and columns with shear keys. Semi empirical seismic design formulas to predict the cracking, ultimate lateral resistant strength and its corresponding displacements are discussed. Comparaing with test results and analytical results using rigid body spring model, these formulas are considered very useful for engineering practices. |
