The behavior of RC columns with wing-walls, analytically and in adaptation to test results is investigated. Three specimens retrofitted by PC bar prestressing and the standard one under constant axial force are conducted to cyclic lateral load and the test results are compared to the calculated ones derived through nonlinear section analysis. Shear stremgth is calculated by AIJ guidelines using a new realistic yield drift angle, thus the performance of such retrofit method is evaluated. Finally a simplified method to calculate the flexural strength for wing-wall section has been established. |
