This paper describes the prediction of diagonal cracking shear strength of reinforced high-strength concrete (HSC) members without web reinforcement. It was found that the diagonal cracking shear strength of HSC is governed by the ratio of uniaxial compressive strength to tensile strength (i.e., its ductility number, DN) of the concrete relative to that of the aggregate. By considering aggregate and concrete strengths, shear strength prediction equations and concrete strength regions were suggested. The proposed equations were found to be reliable for design purposes (Average 1.05, S.D. 0.16). |
