要旨 Many bridges were washed away by the tsunami due to the Great East Japan Earthquake and up until now, the design method of tsunami force on bridge girder has not been proposed. The authors conducted a steady flow experiment to simulate the tsunami flow and studied the characteristics of the wave horizontal force and the vertical force on the girder model. It is obtained that the wave horizontal force is proportional to the square of flow velocity and the vertical force affected the girder downward because of the overflow effect on the girder top.
