Carbon fiber sheet is used as retrofitting method to confine the concrete, from past studies it is known that carbon fiber sheet confinement improves the deformation capacity of concrete and delays the concrete crushing. A stress-strain relationship to model the confinement effect of carbon fiber sheet used to retrofit the concrete is proposed in this paper by modifying Nakatsuka's model. To validate the proposed model, an experimental test was conducted over several concrete samples of concrete retrofitted with carbon fiber sheet, by changing the shape (circular, square and rectangular), size of the specimens, amount of carbon fiber sheet confinement and the chamfer radius in case of rectangular and square shapes. The proposed model in this study is focused in circular and square shapes. |
