A simple geopolymer processing by dry mixing as well as the utilization of volcanic mud with high water absorption rate was studied. The dry mix of powdered sodium metasilicate 9-hydrate and fly ash were successfully hardened with appropriate heat and compaction but without any additional water. The optimum amount of LUSI was investigated with different pre-heating/curing temperature and duration, in terms of both the casting workability and the adequate strength after hardening. Consequently, the practical mix proportion containing 400 kg/m3 of LUSI achieving 31.8 MPa at 7 days was demonstrated. |
