To investigate the axil behavior of confined concrete columns reinforced by ultra-high strength (UHS) SBPDN rebars, monotonic compressive tests of sixteen concrete columns were conducted with hoop spacing, cross-sectional type and the confinement method as main experimental parameters. The test results indicated that the strain ductility of test columns increased with decrease of hoop spacing, and the confinement by bolted thin steel tubes, square and circular, could enhance the strain ductility significantly. It has also been clarified that the bolted circular steel tube could upgrade both peak load and ductility of concrete columns much more than bolted square steel tube with identical thickness. |
