The response and damage level of an equivalent single-degree-of-freedom system are estimated using the capacity spectrum method evaluated with updated analytical performance and damping curves. Updating is carried out by adjusting analytical models to match observed response. 40 cases are considered with models set to have differences in stiffness, strength, and damping. The error in the predicted response decreases from 20% before updating to nearly 10% after updating. Updated damping tends to improve the accuracy of prediction to a larger extent than the updating of the performance curve. |
